Summer is here and that means wine choices turn to lighter, more refreshing options. So, out with the red wines and in with the whites. Right? Not so fast. Some reds deserve a slight chill and it’s a great time to explore what Virginia’s orchards have to offer as well.
The wine offerings in the Charlottesville area are numerous and versatile and the wines that offer you respite from the Virginia humidity might surprise you.
Discover the most chillable wines from some old favorites and new wineries on the block to add to your picnic basket this summer. Tasha Durrett, founder and owner of Black Women Who Wine LLC, has her favorites, see what they are:
Eastwood Farm and Winery Orchard Blend
The Charlottesville area has wines for every wine lover and if you’re seeking an off-dry option, Eastwood’s Orchard Blend is for you. The wine is made entirely from Virginia grown apples and pears and is perfect for chilling and enjoying on a hot, summer day.
These wines are just a taste of what you can sample in Charlottesville and Albemarle County. We are home to a booming viticultural scene with more than 40 wineries along the Monticello Wine Trail.
Come cool down with Charlottesville’s chilled wines all summer long. Make a summer trip out of it at one of our hotels, cottages, or B&Bs…or consider a stay right on a vineyard!
