Virginia is for Viognier (Southside Neighbors)

Virginia is for Viognier!

Pronounced Vee-un-yay this is delicious! Easy to remember, right?

Pale gold in color, the Eastwood Viognier is a great example of how well this grape grows in central Virginia. Our 2020 bottling is deliciously dry, light-bodied with low acidity, and a clean, floral finish. Citrus, apricot, and white flowers like honeysuckle and a hint of jasmine are pronounced on the nose.

This white wine pairs well with Caromont Farm’s Capas Local Honey Chevré as well as Caromont Farm’s Truffle Chevré. The creamy, tangy cheese on a crostini from Albemarle Baking Company is absolutely delightful followed by a sip of Viognier. This wine also pairs well with a summer salad complete with juicy yellow tomatoes, cucumbers, thinly sliced red onions and a vinaigrette or with grilled chicken, fish, and summer vegetables from your garden or local farmer’s market.

The Viognier also pairs Wonderfull with shrimp and oysters!

Salty Bottom Blue Oysters will be serving grilled and raw oysters at Eastwood Farm and Winery on Friday, September 3 and Friday, October 1.
