Juneteenth Pop-Up with Black Women Who Wine and Krissy Cakes

Celebrate Juneteenth at Eastwood with a wine and cupcake pairing! Cupcakes will be available by Krissy Cakes and Tasha Durrett, founder of Black Women Who Wine, will be at the winery to discuss the day’s wine and cupcake pairing along with food traditions to celebrate Juneteenth and summer.

What is Juneteenth?

The day marks June 19, 1865. The day when over two years after the signing of the Emancipation Proclamation and two months after Robert E. Lee surrendered at Appomattox Court House federal troops arrived in Galveston, Texas to take control of the state and ensure that all enslaved people were freed. The date is why most historians mark 1865 as the “end of slavery.”
